Holme Fen Fishery near Colne offers a specialised carp fishing experience on the edge of the Cambridgeshire fen. Managed by Martin Dawson and Mike Hawes since 2011, the fishery was developed from a gravel extraction site and is dedicated to providing quality fishing opportunities. The complex features extensive landscaping with Norfolk reed, bullrushes, and lilies, complemented by hundreds of trees that create a pleasant environment for anglers.
Fishing Opportunities
The Meadows spans 26 acres and is available for exclusive bookings, accommodating up to 10 anglers each week. It houses approximately 200 carp, including specimens weighing over 50lb, with the lake record exceeding 71lb. Poachers Pool, a 4-acre section, is stocked with around 120 carp up to 40lb and is available for individual or small group bookings of varying durations. All carp are uniquely chipped, allowing for effective monitoring and security.
Facilities
Anglers can make use of the on-site bait and tackle shop to prepare for their fishing trips. The fishery is equipped with flush toilets, a shower, and an additional portaloo serviced weekly. For convenience, there is a fridge and bait freezer, as well as sockets for charging remotes in an adjacent shed. Nets, mats, slings, and water buckets are provided to ensure a comfortable and efficient fishing experience.
