River Ouse
River Details
The River Ouse offers approximately 1,500 metres of navigable water stretching from Stafford Bridge downstream to the spinney at the end of the second field. The river flows north-westerly before veering south-westerly, featuring rapid to medium-paced waters. Anglers will find shallows near the top and beside the first and third islands. Be mindful that during summer, vegetation growth may pose challenges downstream of the first island.
Fish Species
Fishing enthusiasts can expect a variety of species, including barbel and pike, both reaching up to 15 lb. Other residents of the river include chub, which can grow to over 6 lb, as well as bream, dace, perch, roach, and tench. The diverse fish population makes the River Ouse a compelling spot for anglers of interest.
Access and Parking
Parking is conveniently available on the verge across from the pumping station. It’s important to avoid parking on the pavement to ensure safety and accessibility. The banks along most of the river are steep, so exercise caution when descending to the water's edge. To reach the fishing area, take the road from Oakley to Pavenham and proceed through the pumping station's gate onto the field. Fishing is permitted downstream from Stafford Bridge to the spinney beyond the third island.
