Heritage Lake.

Key Information
The Lake
Heritage Lake spans approximately 3 acres within the larger 5-acre site set in the heart of the Cottenham Fen, Cambridgeshire. Acquired by CFPAS in late 1998, the lake was previously used for gravel workings. Its depth varies from a few inches to 5 feet, creating diverse habitats for different fish species.
Fish Variety
The lake supports natural breeding of Roach, Rudd, and Carp, with the Carp population enhanced by the introduction of Common Carp. Bream have been added, although their presence fluctuates over the years. Recently, small Tench have been spotted, likely thriving on their own. The best Carp caught this season weighed 22 lb, while the top catch overall reached 37 lb. Sweetcorn bait is effective, particularly for larger Rudd.
Visitor Experience
Heritage Lake is a popular spot for families, offering a tranquil setting where everyone can enjoy fishing. CFPAS aims to develop the fishery further to cater to all ages, ensuring that anglers have the chance to catch a variety of species. The occasional big fish adds an element of excitement to the peaceful fishing environment.
