Pockeridge Lakes

Key Information
Established in 1894, Pockeridge Lakes offers anglers a variety of fishing experiences along the Bristol Avon. Controlled by the Chippenham Angling Club, the stretch extends six miles upstream, featuring diverse sections that cater to different fishing techniques.
Fishing Areas
The river is divided into seven sections, each varying in depth, width, and flow. The fast-flowing shallow gravel glides at Kellaways and Peckingell are perfect for chub and roach, and also renowned for barbel fishing. Moving downstream to the Golf Course area, anglers can enjoy waggler fishing for roach, perch, and occasional chub, with decent tench also present. Further downstream towards the Town Weir, the river reaches its maximum depth of thirteen feet, supporting a robust population of bream, tench, and carp during the summer months. This area is a popular spot for perch as well.
Membership
Club memberships are open to all, providing access to the River Avon and the two small lakes at Pockeridge near Corsham. Members can enjoy fishing on the upper and lower lakes, which collectively offer thirty-five swims. Day tickets are also available for those who wish to experience the river without a membership. A current club membership permit or a valid day ticket is required for fishing.
Facilities
Pockeridge Lakes accommodates anglers with disabled access and facilities, ensuring a comfortable visit for everyone. The Chippenham Angling Club has installed platforms along the river to promote a safe and minimal-impact fishing environment. Whether you're exploring the varied depths or enjoying the accessible areas, the fishery is well-equipped to cater to diverse fishing preferences.
