Overview

Shelf Dam provides anglers with a peaceful retreat through its two distinct lakes in West Yorkshire. The main dam, an old mill structure, accommodates around 13 anglers and boasts a deeper centre reaching approximately 20 feet. Meanwhile, a smaller, secluded pond up the banking supports about six rods and is largely covered with lilies, adding to its serene atmosphere.

Lake Details

The main lake is notably deep for its size, with depths plunging to roughly 20 feet at the centre. The edges start shallow at about 3 feet but quickly deepen, especially on the sides where depths reach 10 feet, requiring careful navigation. In contrast, the smaller pond maintains a consistent depth of 5 to 6 feet throughout, offering a different fishing experience. Both waters are home to a variety of fish, including roach, carp, chub, eel, perch, pike, bream, and tench.
