River Calder

Overview

Flowing slowly before merging with the River Aire above Castleford, the River Calder in West Yorkshire spans 1500 yards in length. This final stretch of the Calder is 35 yards wide and reaches depths of up to 20 feet, providing a tranquil setting for anglers.

Access Points

Anglers can access the river either at the top, near the A639 bridge between Methley and Castleford, where a walk around the boat yard is possible, or halfway along its course on the A6032 Methley Road, close to Pottery Street, where parking is readily available.
