Overview

Railway Pit offers anglers a diverse fishing experience along the banks of the river in West Yorkshire. Covering both sides from the weir downstream, it presents distinct environments tailored to different fishing styles.

Fish Species

At Railway Pit, anglers can target grayling, brown trout, chub, and the occasional pike. While barbel have been stocked in the past, they appear only rarely, adding an element of surprise to your fishing outings.

Access and Features

Access to Railway Pit is convenient with parking available next to the canal at Cromwell House. Two bridges, one upstream and another downstream, allow easy crossing to the far bank. The right bank stretches 1,000 yards to the old flood lock near the railway embankment, while the left bank extends 1,850 yards to Brookfoot Lake. The steep, uneven banks create deep eddies near the railway embankment, enhancing the fishing environment.
