This three-mile stretch of the Horbury Canal runs from Broad Cut Lock at Calder Grove to Figure of Three Lock at Thornhill. With 185 pegs, it provides ample space for anglers to cast their lines along West Yorkshire’s picturesque waterway.
The canal is home to a variety of fish, including chub up to 4lb, bream up to 3lb, perch, and roach. Skimmer bream are particularly common, and mixed bag catches in the double figures are not unusual for those spending the day here.
Anglers have recorded impressive catches in the Horbury Canal area. In November 2004, peg 138 yielded a 40lb chub, while peg 126 saw a bream weighing 36lb 10oz in November 2006. These notable specimens highlight the potential for memorable fishing experiences along this stretch.
