Introduction

Perched on high ground with a view over the Aire Valley, Hoe Hill Fishery offers anglers a picturesque spot to enjoy their hobby. Established in 2006 and opening its doors in spring 2007, the fishery features a pond with about a dozen well-spaced pegs, providing ample space for fishing enthusiasts.

Aquatic Life

The pond is home to several fish species, including Carp, Roach, Bream, Rudd, and Tench. The initial stocking in 2007 included Golden Rudd, which typically reach sizes of 2 to 4 ounces. By April 2008, the Carp weighed between 2 and 3 pounds, while the skimmers ranged from 4 to 10 ounces. Successful spawning has led to a varied size range among the fish population.

Environment

The beautiful setting is somewhat exposed to the elements, making the weather a key consideration for visitors. To mitigate the impact of the prevailing winds, trees have been planted around the pond. However, these trees are still maturing and will take a few more years to provide significant protection. In the meantime, anglers can still enjoy the serene views and the challenges posed by the open landscape.
