Key Information
Location
Ardingly Reservoir spans 198 acres in West Sussex, feeding the River Ouse. Situated five miles north of Haywards Heath, it lies close to the villages of Ardingly and Balcombe. Established in 1978 by damming Shell Brook, the reservoir stores water during high-flow periods from the River Ouse before treatment.
Fishing
With three miles of freshwater fishing, Ardingly Reservoir is a favourite spot for anglers. The waters host carp, tench, pike, roach, rudd, eel, gudgeon, European perch, and bream. Pike can reach up to eight pounds, while perch grow up to two pounds. Whether you’re after a sizeable pike or a delicate bream, there’s something for every angler here.
Activities
Beyond fishing, the Ardingly Activity Centre offers a range of watersports. Visitors can try windsurfing, canoeing, powerboating, or dinghy sailing. The centre makes the most of the reservoir’s expansive waters, providing opportunities for both skill development and recreational fun.
