Fishing Details

Coombe Pool Fishery is now open for the season, offering anglers the chance to fish in an 80-acre mature estate lake. The fishery is home to bream and roach, with matches traditionally won by large bags of bream averaging around 70lb taken on feeders. Additionally, there is a growing trend of matches being won with bags of skimmer and roach caught on the pole. Catches of up to 35lb of smaller fish are becoming increasingly common, and the match record stands at an impressive 142lb.

Facilities

The fishery provides 140 bookable pegs, with 40 reserved specifically for booked matches. Tackle carriers are available for pegs 1-40 on the public bank, ensuring anglers have access to the equipment they need. Parking is ample and conveniently located close to the pegs, accommodating a large number of vehicles. For those requiring additional assistance, part of the bank side is accessible to people with disabilities. Anglers in wheelchairs can arrange transportation to the pegs by calling 024 7645 3720 with 48 hours' notice.

Wildlife and Conservation

Situated within the beautiful 400-acre Coombe Abbey Country Park, the lake was originally designed by Capability Brown and is part of a designated Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). The surrounding protected woodland and Heronry contribute to a rich biodiversity, making it a haven for wildlife enthusiasts. The area remains an attraction all year round, offering a tranquil setting for both fishing and enjoying the natural beauty of historic Coombe.
