Sharpley Springs Fly Fishery sits in Tyne and Wear, just off the A19 at the B1404 turn-off. Its proximity to the sea ensures the lakes remain ice-free throughout winter, unlike many other fisheries. With six fly-only lakes and an additional worm lake for younger anglers, it caters to a variety of fishing preferences. The fishery opens at 6:30 AM and welcomes visitors until dusk, offering stunning sea views to enhance the angling experience.
The centrally heated lodge provides a warm retreat after a morning on the water. Here, you can enjoy complimentary tea and coffee, as well as access to a microwave and fridge for your convenience. The lodge is designed with excellent disabled access, ensuring everyone can comfortably enjoy their time at Sharpley Springs. It's a perfect spot to relax, share your day's catch, or plan your next fishing outing.
Sharpley Springs is well stocked with triploid rainbows, blues, browns, and Goldie’s, including impressive specimens weighing up to 23 lb 6 oz. The naturally spring-fed lakes boast healthy aquatic weed growth, supporting a robust invertebrate population and consistent natural hatches. Whether it's midges in winter or olives in summer, there's always something to entice the trout. Anglers can experiment with various fly patterns, from dry flies like spiders and Griffith's gnat to buzzers and pinky patterns, ensuring a rewarding fishing experience year-round.
