Location
Barr Hill Bottom Pools offers a serene fishing experience in Staffordshire. To reach the pools, take the A525 Newcastle-under-Lyme to Woore road out of Newcastle. You'll pass Keele University and the Newcastle Municipal Golf Club before following the Keele Village By-pass. Look for the turning to Madeley on your left, proceed through Madeley village past Madeley Pool, and cross the Railway Bridge. Continue until the terraced houses end and spot the trees surrounding the Bottom Pools on your left.
Features
Parking is available at Barr Hill Pools, with the car park entrance located around the first bend in the road on the left. Members are advised to be cautious when exiting the car park due to varying road traffic. Additional parking can be found in the driveway opposite the fishery entrance. It’s best to park on the right side as you enter the driveway and stay close to the fence to ensure access remains unblocked. Club memberships are offered, providing anglers with the opportunity to enjoy the pools regularly.
Fish Species
The mixed fishery at Barr Hill Pools is home to a variety of species. Anglers can expect to catch Barbel, Bream, Carp, Chub, Perch up to 3 lb, Roach, Rudd, Tench up to 7 lb, and Gudgeon. With depths reaching up to 9 feet in certain areas, the pools provide a suitable environment for these diverse fish, catering to different fishing preferences.
