History

Willow Garth Fishing Pond has been serving anglers in South Yorkshire for over two decades. While the fishery experienced a period of neglect with overgrown weeds both in the water and on its banks, local matchman Stuart Ward took the initiative to rejuvenate the pond. Through dedicated efforts, the banks were cleared, fishing platforms were established, and the weed issues were resolved, restoring the fishery to its former state.

Facilities

Accessible to all, Willow Garth offers disabled access and facilities, ensuring that everyone can enjoy a day of fishing. The fishery features two well-established lakes with a total of 40 to 45 pegs, providing ample space for anglers to cast their lines.

Fish Species

Anglers can target a variety of species, including carp up to 20 lb, bream, perch, roach up to 2 lb, rudd, and tench. The quality of the fishing has notably improved, with silver fish often weighing between 20 and 30 lb participating in matches throughout the year. Last winter, a roach exceeding 50 lb was recorded, highlighting the thriving fish population. Looking ahead, Stuart Ward is planning to develop a third lake aimed at commercial carping, further enhancing the fishing opportunities at Willow Garth.
