Harthill

Overview

Harthill Reservoir, situated near Rotherham in South Yorkshire, offers anglers a unique fishing experience across three linked ponds. Each pond is separated by a small bridge, creating a distinctive layout that dates back to around 1770. Originally constructed as a feeder reservoir for the Chesterfield Canal, Harthill works in tandem with nearby Pebley Pond, enhancing the local water management system.

The Ponds

The reservoir's largest pond spans 20 acres and reaches depths of up to 20 feet near the dam wall. This main pond is not only a popular spot for fishing but also serves as the base for the Rotherham Sailing Club, adding a layer of activity to the site.
