Ham Green Lakes in Somerset blend natural beauty with a rich tapestry of history. You know what? It’s believed that a Roman road once crossed the bottom of the lake. During the Crimean War, the local hospital depended on the lake for its water supply and acted as an isolation facility for returning patients.
The lake is split into two main areas. The top course lake now hosts over 11,000 course fish, including Roach, Rudd, Bream, Perch, and Tench. Meanwhile, the bottom carp lake is a hotspot for carp up to 20 lb, attracting many carp fishing enthusiasts. Pike, weighing up to 14 lb, as well as Perch and Roach, are also present, offering a variety of catches.
There’s a parking lot at the bottom of the lake, making it easy to get to your fishing spot. If you fancy some fishing under the stars, night fishing is available here. Ham Green Lakes provides a serene setting for anglers interested in coarse fishing, all set against a backdrop of historical significance.
