Lake Description
Acorn Carp Fishery in Somerset features a 3.5-acre specimen carp lake with 16 pegs. The lake includes several smaller islands connected by a larger main island, providing various margins and spots for fishing. Its clay bottom, along with accessible bars, shelves, and open flat areas, offers diverse environments for anglers to explore.
Facilities and Amenities
Visitors can enjoy day ticket access, ensuring a straightforward and enjoyable fishing experience. The presence of bailiffs and staff contributes to a well-managed and secure environment. In March 2019, the fishery underwent significant improvements, including de-silting the lake and rebuilding swims and huts, enhancing the overall quality of the fishing grounds.
Fish Population
The lake boasts over 400 carp, with sizes ranging from 15lb to an impressive 38lb and above. Most of the carp are in their mid to upper 20s and 30s, offering plenty of opportunities to catch a substantial specimen. Annually, the lake is netted to remove smaller carp and fry, which are then transferred to smaller stock ponds, ensuring the health and sustainability of the fish population.
