Lake Layout

Whitchurch Lake spans around 9 acres, nestled on the Shropshire and Cheshire border near Whitchurch. The lake is fed by two streams and land drains, creating a steady flow through its 8 to 10-foot wide canal outlet. The bottom is predominantly even and soft, with minimal weed and detritus. Notable features include pads, an island, and distinct drop-offs about one rod length from the edge, plunging quickly to depths of 7 to 13 feet in the centre. Open water reaches up to 13 feet deep at the eastern end, gently sloping towards the outlet.

Angling

Carp enthusiasts can target specimens up to 33 lb, while tench reach sizes of up to 10 lb. The large bloodworm beds provide good feeding grounds, and fish are often seen in the open water areas. The lake’s consistent margins and drop-offs offer reliable spots to cast a line, especially during the warmer months when the canal is actively used by the fish.

Facilities

Visitors to Whitchurch Lake will find toilet facilities on-site, ensuring a comfortable day out by the water.
