Owestrey Lakes

Key Information
Overview
Owestrey Lakes spans 20 acres on the outskirts of Oswestry in Shropshire, featuring four distinct lakes carefully built and landscaped by Mike Philbin. Established between 2003 and 2006, each pool offers a unique fishing experience with varying depths and amenities. Whether you're casting from a pegged platform or exploring near the islands, there's something for every angler.
Pool Highlights
The Wilfred Owen Pool, the first created in 2003, boasts 20 platformed pegs and a single island, providing ample spots for fishing. The Belvidere Pool, added a year later, offers 27 pegs and two tiny islands, expanding the fishing opportunities. The Stretton Pool is nearing completion with updated depths and a fresh stock of common carp starting at 8 ounces. The Canal Pool, developed in 2006, completes the quartet, each maintaining an average depth of five feet with three-foot margins.
Fish Species
Recent restocking efforts have enhanced the diversity at Owestrey Lakes. Anglers can target carp up to 10lb, barbel up to 10lb, chub starting at 1lb, and tench up to 4lb. From November 2007, F1's up to 1lb will be introduced, adding more variety to the fishing experience. Whether you're after a substantial carp or a modest chub, Owestrey Lakes offers a rewarding day by the water.
