Overview

Sand Hutton Gravel Pits is among YDAA's most attractive waters, nestled amidst woodlands that offer natural shelter. During the warmer months, anglers should be prepared for the presence of mosquitoes.

Fish Species

The pits are home to quality bream, roach, and tench, with occasional rudd and perch adding variety. Smaller pike are plentiful, and there are rumours of a few sizeable carp lurking beneath the surface.

Fishing Tips

Using a pole or waggler, anglers can catch fish close to the shore with maggot, caster, worm, sweetcorn, or bread as effective baits. Casting to the gravel bar in the middle of the lake with a feeder often yields good bream catches. Please note that fishing is not permitted during darkness in the summer months or between 22:00 and 07:00 at other times.
