Fish Species

Racecourse Lake boasts a diverse array of fish, making it a favourite among anglers. Carp can grow up to an impressive 32lb, while bream reach sizes of up to 8lb. Tench are also present, with specimens weighing as much as 7lb 8oz. Additionally, anglers can find chub, perch, roach, and pike, offering various opportunities for a successful catch throughout the seasons.

Fishery Features

Spanning 25 acres, Racecourse Lake features deep waters ranging from 7ft to 14ft, particularly near its two islands. These islands are prime spots for carp anglers who often use boilie tactics to attract large specimens. Managed by the Ripon Piscatorial Association, the lake maintains a healthy environment conducive to a thriving fish population.

Access and Facilities

While Racecourse Lake does offer some disabled access to pegs, many fishing spots require a substantial walk from the parking areas, which may not be suitable for all anglers. It's important to note that there are no on-site facilities available, so visitors should come prepared with everything they need for their fishing experience.
