Key Information
Location
Chapmans Pond Fishery is a beloved coarse fishing spot near Dringhouses in North Yorkshire. Situated beside the larger Lakeside Lodges, it's a favourite among local anglers. The pond is part of a designated nature reserve, offering a peaceful setting for those looking to enjoy a quiet day by the water.
Permits
To fish at Chapmans Pond, you'll need a permit, which is mainly available to York residents. Permits can be renewed annually until the end of May, with the 21/22 season priced at £30.00 before they go on sale to the general public. Given its free access and prime location on a large estate, the pond attracts many families during holidays and sunny weekends, so visiting during off-peak times is recommended for a more relaxed experience.
Fish Variety
The pond is home to roach, perch, bream, and tench, though there are no carp. With depths reaching up to 12 feet and an average of 7-8 feet, Chapmans Pond offers a classic fishing experience. Using maggot or caster on the drop can catch reasonable bags of roach and perch, while fishing corn, bread, or luncheon meat over hemp is effective for skimmers and tench up to 5 lb.
