Birkdale Fishery

Key Information
Lakes
Birkdale Fishery features three distinct lakes set in the heart of North Yorkshire. The largest lake covers approximately four acres, providing plenty of space for anglers to cast their lines. Alongside it, the family lake and mixed lake offer varied environments, each with its own unique charm. Islands dot each lake, creating interesting spots to fish around. With depths reaching over 10 feet, the lakes accommodate different fishing styles, especially during the colder months when deeper areas become more active.
Parking
You’ll find convenient parking areas next to both the top lake and the main lake, making it easy to arrive and set up. However, if you choose to fish on the more distant pegs, be prepared for a fair bit of walking. Most of these pegs lack hard standing, which might be challenging if you have mobility concerns. It’s also worth noting that there are no toilet facilities on site, so plan accordingly.
Fish Species
At Birkdale, anglers can target a variety of species. Carp here can reach up to 22 lbs, offering the chance to reel in a respectable catch. Barbel and trout are also present, adding to the diversity. Tench tend to hide near reeds or marginal shelves, where worm and flavoured corn are effective baits. Roach and bream are plentiful in the summer, perfect for a good catch, while rudd feed actively regardless of the weather. Whether you prefer using floating baits or traditional maggot and caster approaches, Birkdale Fishery caters to different fishing techniques and preferences.
