Overview

Located just outside Harefield on the road to Ickenham, Low Pond is a charming fishery comprising two small ponds, each equipped with approximately 15 pegs. Managed by the Harefield Angling Project, a venture of Uxbridge Rovers, Low Pond serves as a welcoming space for anglers under sixteen and those with disabilities. Supported by Hillingdon Council and the Environment Agency, the project benefits from technical assistance and fish stocking, thanks to the generous sponsorship of Harefield Tackle.

Facilities

Low Pond offers disabled access and dedicated facilities to ensure an inclusive fishing experience for all visitors. Parking is conveniently available, with the top pond situated no more than 20 yards from the car park and accessible from three banks, the most popular being the one nearest the car park. The lower pond, a short 15-minute walk down the hill, is nestled away in the woods, providing a more secluded fishing environment. Despite its inviting location, anglers should exercise caution around the lower pond, as the very deep silt poses potential hazards.

Fish Species

Anglers at Low Pond can expect to encounter a variety of species. The top pond features large carp, reaching up to 8lb, cruising the waters alongside resident pike that can grow up to 20lb and often cause shoals of fry to scatter. Additionally, barbel and chub, both capable of reaching up to 17lb and 8lb respectively, add to the diverse fishing opportunities. While the upper pond is quieter and closer to amenities, the lower pond offers a more adventurous fishing experience amidst natural snags and wooded areas.
