The Lakes

Lovells Carp Lakes consists of two distinct bodies of water near West Deeping, Peterborough. The older lake is shallower, ranging from 4-5ft at the top end to about 14ft at the bottom. This variation in depth creates diverse habitats for a range of coarse fish. Anglers can explore reedbeds and lily pad areas, which are productive spots for fishing. Additionally, a gravel bar runs down most of the lake, offering another prime location to cast your line.

Fishing Experience

At Lovells Lakes, boilies are banned, encouraging anglers to use alternative bait. Fishing the marginal shelves is recommended, as these areas are particularly fruitful. The carp here are known to put up a strong fight, so having your rod in hand is essential. If pegs near the reedbeds are unavailable, anglers can try the overhanging trees for good catches. Carp typically range from 10-15lb, with some reaching just over 30lb, providing exciting opportunities for those seeking a hefty catch.
