Birstall Carp Pool hosts a variety of fish, making it a favourable spot for anglers. The lake is home to over 140 carp, with about 10 boasting weights between 30lb to 40lb. Introduced between 2007 and 2009, around 45 carp range from 7lb to 20lb. In addition to carp, anglers can find bream up to 16lb, tench reaching 14lb, and pike that grow up to 20lb, alongside perch and roach.
Fishing Rules
Members are limited to using four rods each to ensure a balanced fishing experience. All types of bait are permitted, and bait boats are allowed on the water. However, it's important to refrain from crossing the lake with bait boats or casting into the designated water ski course area. These measures help maintain safety and order on the water.
Access Information
Access to Birstall Carp Pool is managed through two gates, for which members receive keys upon arrival by car. It's essential to keep the gates locked at all times for security reasons. During the summer months, the water ski club operates a rota system, ensuring there is always someone on-site. When approaching the pool, please drive at a maximum speed of 5 MPH, as access is via a public footpath.
