Wyre Lake boasts 19 named swims, each offering a unique fishing experience. The island, spanning 1½ acres, adds character to the lake with its undulated gravel bars and silt beds. Depths vary from 2ft to 12ft, providing different spots for anglers to explore. During the spring, certain areas around the cabin swims and lawn/swamp can become weed-heavy, so it’s good to keep an eye on the conditions.
Accessing Wyre Lake is straightforward with two designated car park areas available. However, it’s important to note that you cannot drive directly to any of the swims. Plan to park your vehicle in the main visitor car park before the barrier and make your way on foot to your chosen swim. This ensures a peaceful environment for both anglers and wildlife.
For those looking to extend their stay, Wyre Lake offers lodges and cabins that provide a comfortable base after a day of fishing. While the bar and restaurant are closed from Sunday to Thursday, nearby pubs are just half a mile away for any refreshment needs. Night fishing is also available for season ticket holders, and day and night permits can be purchased during weekdays from October to March.
