Our Story

Withnell Angling Club has been a cornerstone of the Withnell Parish community since 1967. Originally set up to introduce young people to the joys of fishing, the club has grown over the decades to welcome anglers of all ages. Situated between Chorley and Blackburn, it remains a friendly spot where fishing enthusiasts can gather and share their passion.

Fishing Locations

The River Darwen offers a lovely stretch near Samlesbury, perfect for those who enjoy river fishing. In addition, the club boasts nine still-waters, each providing a unique fishing experience. Whether you prefer the gentle flow of the river or the stillness of a pond, there’s a spot here for you to cast your line and relax.

Available Fish

Anglers will find a diverse range of coarse fish species at the River Darwen and surrounding waters. From Carp and Bream to Perch and Pike, there’s plenty to catch. Other species include Roach, Rudd, Tench, Chub, and Eel. To enjoy fishing at these locations, a Withnell Angling club permit is required.
