Hawkhurst - Main Lake has seen some impressive catches. Paul Brown landed a 39lb 2oz Mirror in February 2019, while Simon Mehegan caught a 41lb 10oz Common in May 2021. The standout was Dave Leftley’s 84lb Catfish in August 2019.

Lake Environment

This 4-acre lake features reed-lined margins, several islands, and two bridges. The clay and silty bottom averages 5 feet in depth, with the deepest point reaching around 10 feet near the outflow. Catfish Corner near swims 5 and 6 often hosts larger catfish. Shallow areas around the islands slope to about 1.5 feet, dropping to 4-5 feet on the shelves.

Access and Facilities

Visitors can access the lake with day tickets, and there is nearby parking available. The site includes toilets and facilities that cater to disabled visitors. Up to 11 fishermen are allowed at a time across 14 swims, with a limit of two rods per person. Strong tackle is required, so be sure to review the regulations for tackle specifications.
