Access to the River Yar is exclusively available to full members of the Isle of Wight Fishing and Fly Angling Association (IWFAA). Club memberships provide anglers with the opportunity to enjoy fishing across three distinct stretches of the Eastern Yar. Please note that day tickets are not offered, ensuring a dedicated community of anglers.
The River Yar is home to a wide variety of fish, catering to different angling preferences. Anglers can find roach, dace, bream, chub, tench, carp, perch, and eels. Notably, bream can reach sizes of over 6lb, while tench may grow beyond 4lb. Carp in the River Yar have been recorded in double figures, adding excitement for those targeting larger specimens.
Fishing on the River Yar is subject to a closed season from 15th March to 15th June. During this period, angling is not permitted to ensure the protection and breeding of fish populations. Outside of these dates, members can enjoy uninterrupted fishing across all three stretches, making the most of the river’s abundant aquatic life.
