Background

Fleet Pond was dug in the 1400s by monks with the primary purpose of farming carp. Spanning 53 acres, it stands as Hampshire's largest lake. Over the past 23 years, sand silting has made the pond shallower, reaching a maximum depth of 16 inches across.

Carp Fishing

Carp fishing remains a key activity at Fleet Pond. Anglers can cast their lines from six swings along the railway bank and at the bottom of Chestnut Grove Road. The fishing platforms have been updated in the last five years, enhancing the overall fishing experience.

Boating

Boat fishing and hire are available for those looking to enjoy the water differently. Both fishing and boating are permitted from the 16th of June to the 14th of March, offering ample time for various water activities throughout the season.
