Curleys Fishery

Key Information
History
Curleys Fishery features a reservoir that is over two centuries old. Originally created to supply water to a mill in the valley below, the site operated as a coarse fishery for many years. In 2002, Steve and Helen Kershaw acquired the land and revitalised the fishery. By the winter of 2005, the reservoir was drained and transitioned to focus on fly fishing, reopening in spring 2006 with a new purpose.
Fishing
The main reservoir spans 6 acres and is dedicated to fly fishing. It is stocked with triploid rainbow trout, along with blues and goldies, each weighing up to 15lb. Anglers can enjoy the challenge of catching these hard-fighting fish in a well-maintained environment. Additionally, there is a smaller 1-acre lake where various fishing methods are permitted, making it an ideal spot for accompanied children and those new to fly fishing.
Support for Beginners
Curleys Fishery offers assistance for beginners, ensuring that newcomers to fly fishing have the support they need to enjoy their experience. Whether you are just starting out or looking to refine your skills, the staff are available to provide guidance and advice. This makes Curleys Fishery a welcoming place for those looking to learn and improve their fishing techniques.
