Epping Forest Ponds

Key Information
Access and Facilities
Epping Forest Ponds offers convenient parking located approximately 100 yards from the lake. Visitors reach the fishing area via a grassy path that winds through a locked gate and an old orchard. The fishery is equipped with disabled access and facilities, ensuring everyone can enjoy their visit comfortably. Club memberships are required for access, though guest tickets are available through the Secretary, allowing members to bring along a guest.
Fishing Experience
The lake features one platform and eleven flat bank swims, some of which are doubles, providing ample access for both float and ledger fishing. Anglers can target Carp up to 23 lb, Perch up to 2 lb 8 oz, and Roach up to 1 lb 8 oz. While Tench were initially reported, none have been found to date. The absence of real snags makes it ideal for light fishing, whether using a float on a running line or light quiver tipping for some exciting sport.
Wildlife and Conservation
Early summer mornings bring a delightful array of wildlife, including rabbits, deer, herons, and foxes. Throughout the day, goldfinches, green finches, woodpeckers, and kingfishers frequently visit the area. The surrounding trees and private gardens create a peaceful environment, enhancing the feeling of being in a lost land. Conservation efforts help maintain the natural habitat, ensuring that both wildlife and anglers can coexist harmoniously.
