Danbury Trout Lake offers fly fishing enthusiasts a tranquil spot nestled within Essex's wooded landscapes. Covering 1.5 acres, this reservoir is a haven for those seeking a peaceful day by the water.
Anglers at Danbury Trout Lake can expect to encounter a variety of species. The lake is home to catfish, with some impressive specimens reaching up to 37 lb. Perch are also present, adding diversity to your fishing experience. Rainbow trout are regularly stocked, with sizes ranging from 1 lb to 2½ lb, and some growing over the winter to become 3 lb beauties.
Club memberships are offered, allowing members to engage more deeply with the fishery. The lake features seven fishing platforms, providing multiple spots to cast your line. A chalet has been constructed for weighing your catches, making it easy to keep track of your success. Additionally, members are encouraged to participate in running the fishery, with several working parties organised during the closed season.
The fishing season runs from 1st April to 31st November. Please note that fly fishing only is available, and there is no catch and release policy. Anglers are limited to a two fish bag limit per day, ten fish per week, and a total of 60 fish per season. Angling is restricted to 50 permit holders each season, with permits available for £60 plus £3 for a key to the fishery.
