Entry to Chesterford Fisheries is through a locked gate, situated just a few miles out of Saffron Walden near Little Chesterford. This controlled access ensures a peaceful environment for anglers.
The Bordeaux pit spans approximately 2.5 acres and is well sheltered from prevailing west and south-westerly winds, thanks to its position below the surrounding fields and the railway embankment to the west. The water is divided into three distinct sections, including two main bays and an island at the northern end, offering a total of 39 swims. In winter, water levels reach around 6-7ft, with the swims around the island being slightly shallower.
This mixed fishery is home to a variety of species such as Carp, Bream, Chub, Perch, and Tench. Carp typically range from 10-20lb, with some reaching up to 30lb. Bream can grow up to 5lb, while Tench have been caught up to 8lb. The stock levels are carefully maintained to avoid overstocking, providing anglers with the chance for rewarding catches, especially during the summer months.
