Bovington Lakes has been a fishery in Essex since 1991. Initially, the waters were stocked with numerous silver fish ranging from 1oz to 4oz, along with double figure carp from Layer Pit. Over the years, the carp population has thrived, with some exceeding 40lb. Additionally, more large Tench have been appearing each year.
From Colchester, take the A12 towards London and leave at the Hatfield Peverel exit. Turn left towards Maldon (B1019) and follow the road for about 900 metres. Then, turn left into Wickham Bishop Road. The entrance to Bovington Lakes is through a gate approximately 200 metres down the road. The first lake on the left is Bovington 1; continue down the track to reach Bovington 2.
Bovington Lakes offers anglers the chance to catch carp up to 40lb and Tench. The waters have become a favourite spot for carp enthusiasts, with a growing number of sizeable specimens being caught each year.
