Berners Hall Fishery offers anglers three distinct lakes set within the picturesque Essex countryside in Ongar. The centerpiece is a spacious 24-acre reservoir, complemented by two newly created carp lakes. Each lake provides a unique fishing experience, catering to different preferences and styles.

Fish

Visitors can expect to encounter a variety of carp, with some impressive specimens reaching up to 44 lb—like the notable Rambo. Additionally, the fishery is home to robust catfish, some exceeding 70 lb, while the average catfish size hovers around 40 lb. With 600 hand-picked carp and 14 catfish nurtured since 2006, there’s plenty to keep anglers engaged.

Rules and Amenities

All fishing at Berners Hall Fishery is strictly by pre-booking, ensuring a well-managed environment. Anglers must keep the entrance gate locked at all times and carry their booking confirmation on site. The fishery enforces a limit of three rods per angler and requires barbless hooks with no leaders allowed. Amenities include clean toilets and the presence of bailiffs and staff to assist and maintain order throughout your visit.
