The reservoir, opened in 1971, is nestled in a picturesque valley, providing a scenic backdrop for fishing enthusiasts.

Fishing Opportunities

The main reservoir spans approximately 120 acres and is complemented by two smaller lakes. Ardleigh Reservoir is home to carp that can reach up to 40 lb and pike exceeding 25 lb. Anglers can also find large shoals of bream, roach, rudd, perch, tench, and some eels. The Wick Lane Lake, extending to 12 acres, accommodates up to 30 anglers in a match and is especially popular during summer. Meanwhile, the three-acre Ramada Lake is perfect for beginners, offering almost guaranteed catches.

Permits are available for purchase at the Fishing Lodge or from a self-service kiosk open 24 hours a day. A day permit allows fishing from dawn until dusk, while night fishing is reserved for season permit holders. Boats can be hired separately from March and April, but bookings must be made at least 48 hours in advance. Additionally, the fishery offers assistance for beginners and other sports and leisure activities, ensuring a well-rounded experience for all visitors.
