Carp Fishing

Carp anglers will find Wirgol lakes a worthwhile spot, home to carp weighing up to 15 lb. Both lower Wirgol I and upper Wirgol II offer ample space for casting lines and seeking out these sizeable specimens. The efforts by Henry Russell and his crew have ensured thriving waters over the decades. In the summers of the 1990s, a bale of barley straw was often seen floating on the surface, assisting in managing algae blooms.

Memberships

Club memberships are available for those interested in fishing at Wirgol lakes. Members can access both Wirgol I and Wirgol II, continuing a tradition that started in the mid-1980s. It's a way to be part of a community centred around carp fishing.

Seasonal Access

The lakes are closed from 15 March to 31 May each year. This seasonal block ensures that the fish have a calm period to thrive without the activity of anglers. Outside these dates, anglers are welcome to enjoy the peaceful surroundings and cast their lines.
