History

Since 1978, Scaland Wood has been a cherished venue for the Crowborough & District Anglers Association. Initially a simple muddy pit, the waterway was transformed into a thriving fishery under the guidance of Don Plummer and dedicated volunteers. Notably, the area featured a floating island until its removal in the mid-1980s. In 1992, significant improvements were made with the rebuilding of the dam and de-silting of the water, paving the way for the reintroduction of fish.

Features

Today, Scaland Wood offers a range of accessible facilities, including disabled access, modern toilets, and ample parking for visitors. The club provides day ticket access, allowing anglers to enjoy the serene environment without a long-term commitment. Over the years, the fishery has seen numerous upgrades, such as the installation of a wind break in 2010, trimming of the roadside bank treeline between 2012 and 2013, restoration of the parking lot, creation of a hard walk to the lake, and the addition of a composting toilet. Further enhancements in 2017 introduced clearly marked elevated pegs and upgraded pathways, ensuring a comfortable and organized fishing experience for all members.

Fish Species

Scaland Wood is home to a variety of fish species that cater to different angling interests. Anglers can target carp weighing up to 12 lb, perch reaching up to 1 lb, and tench up to 2 lb. These species contribute to the diverse fishing opportunities available, making Scaland Wood a delightful spot for both seasoned and novice anglers alike.
