Last updated: 30 January 2025

Winfield Lakes, formerly known as Willitoft Fish Farm, offers a thoughtfully designed fishing experience in the East Riding of Yorkshire. Dr Bruno Broughton crafted these two lakes in the late 1990s, covering a total of three acres with average depths ranging from five to six feet. Anglers will find 45 pegs, most of which are accessible to those with disabilities, ensuring everyone can enjoy their time by the water.

Facilities

The fishery is equipped with essential amenities, including on-site toilets for convenience. Additionally, anglers can book matches, typically held on the High Lake, providing a competitive edge to your fishing day. For those looking to grab a quick bite, hot snacks are available directly from the owner's house, adding a homely touch to your visit.

Fish Stock

Winfield Lakes are stocked with a variety of fish species to suit different angling preferences. You can expect to catch roach weighing up to one pound, bream up to two pounds, and carp reaching up to seventeen pounds. The lakes also host ide, tench, and chub, offering a diverse fishing opportunity. Notably, a third lake exists on-site, though it remains unfished.

Fishing Tips

Fishing with lighter tackle tends to yield the best results at Winfield Lakes, as the fish here are not exceptionally large. Popular baits include maggots, meat, and bread punch, but experimenting with different baits can increase your chances of a catch. It’s interesting to note that maintaining a steady feed above the lakes encourages the fish to stay, otherwise, they might wander off.
