Venue Details

Situated in the scenic East Riding of Yorkshire, Stocks Pond is a very old and mature clay pit surrounded by trees, enhancing the tranquil fishing environment. A thick bed of silt covers much of the pond's bottom, while a band of reeds splits the pond down the middle. This natural division has several gaps, allowing fish to migrate freely between the two areas. The pond features two sunken roads, each about 10ft wide and situated around 7ft below the surface, remnants from the clay excavation era. These roads have minimal silt, providing unique fishing spots. Additionally, the presence of clay features and bars in the second pond area adds to the pond's complexity and appeal. Recent improvements by work parties have significantly enhanced the swims and paths, ensuring a pleasant experience for all visitors. Toilets are conveniently available on-site, catering to the comfort of anglers.

Access and Amenities

Accessing Stocks Pond is straightforward for members of the Hull & District Anglers’ Association. The pond is easily reachable via the East Riding of Yorkshire, with clear paths leading to the designated fishing areas. Parking is available in the first car park adjacent to No 3&4 Pond, and members must ensure not to block farm access to fields. It's crucial to keep the security gates locked at all times to prevent unauthorized access and protect the fishery from otters and other undesirables. Members will receive a combination for the gates with their annual membership, ensuring secure and hassle-free visits. The pond's surrounding trees provide a picturesque setting, while the well-maintained paths and swims offer accessibility for all angling enthusiasts.
