The Erewash Canal section stretches approximately 4.2 miles from Sandiacre Town's road bridge to Station Road Bridge in Ilkeston. The northern end near Sandiacre is more urban, flanked by houses and factory buildings. Despite the bustling surroundings, anglers can enjoy consistent fishing opportunities as you move further along the canal.

Fish Species

Throughout the year, anglers can target Roach, Bream, Chub, and Perch. Whether you're casting from the bank in the urban section or amidst the pleasant countryside near Pasture Lock, there's always a good chance of a rewarding catch.

Access

Access points are conveniently located around Sandiacre Bridge, Mill Lane, Stanton Gate Bridge, Stanton Hotwaters, Greens, Gallows Bridge, and Station Road in Ilkeston. From Stanton Gate, it's just a third of a mile to Stanton Lock, and 350 yards in the opposite direction to Pasture Lock. Day tickets are available, and the canal remains open all year with no closed seasons. Please note that night fishing is not permitted.
