The Fishing Experience

Kentmere Fishery provides anglers with the opportunity to fish across two lakes nestled in the Kentmere Valley. East Bay, the smaller of the two, is home to wild and stocked brown trout, with averages around 2lb and some reaching up to 5lb. The larger lake covers approximately 10 acres and hosts wild browns typically around three-quarters of a pound, though larger specimens have been caught during opening days. While the main lake is best enjoyed from the club boat, there is also access from the banks for anglers who prefer to fish on foot.

Facilities

The terrain surrounding Kentmere Fishery can be boggy and uneven, featuring several holes that can trap the unwary. To ensure safety, East Bay is equipped with purpose-built platforms and walkways. Disabled access and facilities are available, making the fishery accessible to all visitors. Club memberships are offered for those interested in using the boat, which requires the purchase of a key. Additionally, boat fishing and hire services are available to enhance your fishing experience.

Surroundings

The fishery is set in an area abundant with wildlife, including deer, foxes, badgers, and a variety of bird species. Conservation areas around Kentmere help maintain this rich natural habitat. Anglers should be prepared for a high presence of insects, such as midges and clegs, especially on warm, muggy days and summer evenings, so insect repellent is strongly advised. Kentmere Fishery is open from 15th March until 30th September, daily from dawn until dusk.
