Overview

Ennerdale Water, known as Longlands Lake, came into existence in 1939 following West Cumbria's iron mining activities. Positioned beside the River Ehen between Cleator Moor and Egremont, it is now part of a country park managed by Cumbria County Council. The lake provides a quiet refuge for both wildlife and anglers seeking a peaceful fishing environment.

Angling

Wath Brow and the Ennerdale Angling Association oversee the management of Ennerdale Water, regularly stocking the lake with rainbow trout. There are several casting platforms available, including one that is wheelchair accessible, catering to diverse angling needs. Steep banks and tree-covered areas can pose challenges for casting, adding an extra layer of excitement for those on the line.

Tickets

Day permits are available for anglers wanting to spend a day at the lake. You can purchase your tickets from Farrens shop in Cleator, Udales Newsagents in Cleator Moor, or the Wathbrow Post Office. This straightforward access allows you to focus on enjoying your fishing experience at Ennerdale Water.
