Overview

Cogra Moss is a 40-acre naturalised reservoir overlooking the Solway Plain, situated near Lamplugh in Cumbria. Managed by the Cockermouth Angling Association, it is renowned as the best stocked game stillwater in west Cumbria.

Fishing Experience

Here, anglers can expect quality rainbows, with most fish averaging over a pound and a half and some reaching impressive sizes up to 8lb. The reservoir also hosts wild brown trout, typically landing in the 2-3lb range each year. The water responds excellently to imitative fishing patterns and is particularly productive in late spring and early summer when breezes bring plenty of terrestrials onto the water.

Accessibility

Access to the fishery is possible all around, and several constructed platforms offer different fishing spots—though their design occasionally raises questions about accessibility. Additionally, Cogra Moss provides disabled access and facilities, making it more accessible for all visitors.
