Fish Species
Anglers can enjoy fishing for salmon, trout up to 12 lb, and grayling. The river is renowned for its first-class sea trout, making it a sought-after destination for serious anglers.
Fishing Areas
The club manages 2.5 miles of the River Wear between Durham City and Franklin Prison. In 2007, fishing was extended to Moorhouse Woods, also known as Rainton Park Wood, and in 2010, the Low Grange Farm stretch was added. The Low Grange Farm section offers excellent fly fishing opportunities for salmon and sea trout, complemented by its strategic location and accessible parking.
