History

Beeches Pool stands as one of Winsford's oldest fisheries, with roots stretching back over a century. Originally known as the Floods, it formed when water from surrounding farmers' fields gathered in a natural hollow. Interestingly, the name "The Ocean" has puzzled locals for years—if you have any insights, we'd love to hear!

Fishing at Beeches Pool

The pool is home to a variety of fish, including carp, roach, and rudd. The carp population is particularly notable, tracing back to the original stock introduced in 1963 from fisheries in the South of England and Belgium. These fish have thrived, with many descendants populating other nearby waters. While fishing here can be rewarding, it's important to be mindful of the adjacent municipal golf course. Certain areas near the fairways are off-limits to ensure everyone's safety.

Permit Requirements

Due to its popularity, securing a special permit in advance is essential to prevent overcrowding at Beeches Pool. This helps maintain a pleasant fishing experience for all visitors. Planning ahead will ensure you can fully enjoy what this historic fishery has to offer.
