Blue Lagoon

Key Information
The Lagoon
Blue Lagoon has been a part of Bedfordshire since the 1850s, originally formed by the Arlesey Brick and Lime Company. Over the years, the triangular Green Lagoon spans around 3 acres. The northern side features a chalk cliff that drops to 30 feet, making it the deepest area. On the eastern side, depths reach about 12 feet, while the western side ranges from 14 to 16 feet. The middle provides the deepest point at 35 feet. Surrounded by trees, anglers find shelter from harsh weather, and the water’s consistent temperature keeps fish active even in winter.
Fishing
Carp enthusiasts will appreciate the variety at Blue Lagoon, with Mirror, Common, and Leather carp up to 25 lb. Pike can grow up to 30 lb, while Tench reach 7 lb and Bream 8 lb. Additionally, anglers might encounter Perch, Roach, Rudd, and occasional Crusian carp. Most fish are caught under the rod tip using a range of baits, making every cast worthwhile. There's no specific hotspot; every swim tends to yield results without needing to venture far out.
Highlights
One of the standout spots is 'Magic corner', where the east and west banks meet. In early spring, various species gather here to spawn, creating lively scenes and ideal fishing opportunities. The lagoon’s ability to maintain temperature means fish feed during winter, becoming active early as spring approaches. This year, the best catch so far includes a 25 lb Leather carp and a 30 lb Pike, showcasing the lagoon’s potential for impressive specimens.
