Chichester Canal
The Chichester Canal in West Sussex offers anglers a rewarding fishing experience along its three and a half mile stretch. Managed by the Chichester Ship Canal Trust, this waterway boasts a diverse range of fish, including impressive carp and pike that can reach up to 20lb.
Parking
Anglers will find convenient parking options at the A27 bridge (eastbound) and the Hunston bend, where space is available for around 20 cars. These locations provide easy access to the canal, ensuring a hassle-free start to your fishing day.
Access and Facilities
The well-maintained tow paths along the canal make it accessible even for those with disabilities. Should you need to replenish your supplies, the nearby village shop and the Spotted Cow pub are on hand to cater to your needs, offering a comfortable spot to relax and refresh.
Fish Variety
Chichester Canal is home to a large stock of fish, including bream up to 10lb, carp and pike over 20lb, as well as perch, roach, tench, gudgeon, rudd, dace, and crucian carp. The increased use of pleasure trip boats has enhanced the colour in the water, creating favourable conditions for anglers.
Please note that the stretch from the Canal Basin near the Police Station in Chichester to the A27 Chichester Bypass bridge is closed to fishing from 1st April until 30th September.
